CINDERFORD Town manager Paul Michael (pictured right) has hailed his side’s second-half performance against Cirencester Town on Saturday as the best he has seen during his tenure at the club.
The Foresters came from behind to beat fellow promotion rivals Cirencester 3-1 thanks to goals in the second period from Andy Lewis, Ethan Moore and James Harding.
And it appeared that Michael’s urging of his team to turn up the heat on their local rivals at half-time did the trick in their season opener at the Causeway.
“We just said we hadn’t had the intensity that we needed,” he told the club’s official channels.
“We thought we had a good little spell in the middle of the half where we started to pass the ball well and that’s why we weren’t going to cane Andy for giving the ball away which led to their goal, because we were on top when we started to pass the ball.
“We can’t think ‘if we don’t pass the ball, we won’t give it away’."
