YOUNG star Macy Walby has been snapped up by a Women’s Super League academy.
Macy, from Mitcheldean, has signed terms with Bristol City Ladies after training with West Brom and Cheltenham Town.
The nine-year-old plied her trade with Cinderford Town’s youth section, coached by dad Mark, and scored 50 goals for the club’s Under-8s in 2016/17.
Macy was one of only two girls to train with Cheltenham Town’s development centre and has ’always grown up with playing football’ according to Mark.
She was scouted four years ago and began her development at Hereford Soccer Schools and signing for a top-tier women’s club academy is a sure sign of her promise.
A spokesperson at Cinderford Town said: “We’d like to say a huge congratulations to Under-9s player Macy Walby who last night signed an academy contract with Bristol City.
“Macy joined the club at four years of age and has become an exceptional player during her time with us.
“Macy becomes the fourth player in 12 months to move on to an academy with more currently being courted by clubs as well.
“We wish her all the best at Bristol City.”
