CINDERFORD Town chairman Stuart Tait wants to see a redeveloped Causeway ground become a crucial community asset for the area.
Plans for the club’s overhauled home go on public consultation on Wednesday December 20.
The event takes place at the Causeway between 11am-9pm and Tait said he is keen to get the views of fans and the community in order to get the redevelopment right.
“The idea of the consultation is to get as many views and comments as possible,” he said.
“We want positive and negative views and there might be ideas that we haven’t even thought of.
“We know we are getting a 3G pitch and a whole rebuild of the club.”
The scheme will go to planners early next year and is being planned in conjunction with Bryan Robson Sports, the club’s professional advisors, as South Gloucestershire and Stroud College.
The college own land adjacent to the Causeway and it is believed the proposed housing development for that land will enable the club redevelopments to go ahead.
And Tait believes the new home of the Forest’s top football side could spur an upturn in the Forest’s fortunes both on and off the pitch.
“For me, this isn’t about becoming a Conference South club or anything like that,” he added.
“It’s about having facilities for the community and allowing access to a 3G pitch all the time.
“We want to have more girls and women’s football in the area and better facilities. It’s about them and the youth and we will be creating a club for every level of the sport.
“Hopefully something like this can improve the social mobility of the area.
“Football can be a massive catalyst for positive change and that’s what we want to do here.”
