CINDERFORD Town have re-signed young defender Niall Rowe on work experience from Cheltenham Town as well as securing the services of midfielder Ben Snook.

Rowe, who has been a named substitute at Whaddon Road on a number of occasions this term as well as appearing in the Robins’ FA Trophy campaign, impressed manager John Brough during his first spell at the Causeway earlier in the season.

Snook, meanwhile, leaves Brimscombe & Thrupp – where he has skippered the side to safety in the Hellenic Premier Division – to bolster the ranks of John Brough’s side, having been watched by Town assistant manager Gerry Oldham.

“I didn’t want him to go in the first place,” Brough said of Rowe, who scored a vital goal in Cheltenham’s FA Trophy Second Round draw against Oxford City.

“Cheltenham called him back from his spell with us because they needed him there; he played in the FA Trophy games and he was on the bench a couple of times too.

“I jumped at the chance to have him back. He’s a great addition to the side. He’s only just turned 19 but he’s very mature in the way he plays; his positional sense is very good and he has a lot to offer as a developing centre half.

“Ben Snook is one that Gerry has known for a few years and suggested him. We did speak to him back in October but he decided to stay at Brimscombe then.

“Gerry kept an eye on him and with Brimscombe basically safe and not likely to go up he decided to commit to us until the end of the season.

“Ben’s trained with us a few times; he came last Thursday and really enjoyed it. He’s a box-to-box player and he joins a midfield where we’re really strong with James Fawke, Lorcan Sheehan and Ryan Shaw.

“With the backlog of games we’ve got to get through, where it’ll be Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday-Tuesday for a while, we needed to make the squad bigger and I’m grateful to the board for allowing me to do that.”
