NEW Lydney Town manager Rich Kear (pictured in his playing days) has appointed former Newport County team-mate Damien Broad as his assistant coach for the upcoming 2019/20 Hellenic League season.

Broad is a current youth coach at League Two side County, where he coached the club’s Under-18s side last season.

He said: “I’m delighted to be here at Lydney town and very much looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“I know the manager well from our time together at Newport County and I am excited by the ambition he has shown and vision he has for the club moving forward.

“I’ve seen the squad in action this pre-season and I think there is a lot of potential within this group."
