HARROW Hill have appointed Darren Gwilliam as their new manager after Darren Weyman and Andy Symonds stepped down from the post.

Weyman stepped in to help as a temporary measure two years ago and his stint extended to the end of the 2016/17 season, while Symonds joined him at the beginning of the season as an assistant.

Former English Bicknor boss Gwilliam comes in with a track record of promotions for the fellow Forest club.

“Darren has had a lengthy and successful spell at another local club earning them several promotions,” a club statement read.

“Darren attended the presentation evening and has already met a lot of the players. Harrow Hill would like to welcome Darren to the club and wish him every success in his new venture.

“After two seasons at the helm Darren Weyman and Andy Symonds are stepping back from running the First Team.

“They have both done a sterling job and the club would like to express it’s gratitude.”

Ryan Bowdler was named manager’s player of the year at the club’s presentation evening, while Ricky Tingle got the nod from his peers for players’ player of the year.

Liam Thomas won the club’s overall young player of the year award, the Bobby Price Cup, as well as the first team’s young player award.
