A FAMILIAR face will return to the Causeway this summer as former Cinderford Town man Andy Lewis has agreed to rejoin the club from Shortwood United.

Lewis is one of two defensive signings made by manager Paul Michael, as Slimbridge defender Nick Grimes also agreed a deal.

“Andy is very well thought of by everyone at the club as a player and a person,” Michael said.

“He is experienced at this level who will certainly improve us.

“Andy is great on the ball, good in the air and a natural leader who will be a part of our leadership group from the start, I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

Hartpury College student Grimes is another player to have enjoyed an impressive 2016/17 season and Michael has seen enough to believe he can go on to play further up the footballing pyramid.

“Nick is going to play at higher levels, that’s noticeable from what we have seen from him already at Slimbridge and Hartpury,” he added.

“We hope we can play a part in his continued development and that he can contribute to a successful season for Cinderford Town.

“We now have four quality centre-backs at this level, which gives us the option of playing a three, which we’ll look at over the summer.

“A couple of them can also play a midfield role and Declan Morley-Lyne is different to what we already have at the club so preparations are going well and we want to hit the ground running.”

In terms of outgoings, winger Elliott Ford has returned to Monmouth Town.
