FORMER Cinderford Town skipper Keiran Thomas could secure a contract with Championship club Derby County after spending the week on trial with the Rams.

Thomas, 23, has impressed since captaining Town to the Southern League Division One South & West title last term and securing a move to National League North side Gloucester City.

The Cinderford-raised right-back was due to take part in Derby’s Under-23s match at Luton Town last night alongside brother Luke, a forward who signed for Derby from Cheltenham last January.

Keiran is under contract with Gloucester until the end of next season, and manager Tim Harris says that he deserves his chance.

“Keiran has been outstanding for us this season and he’s caught the eye of Derby County as well as a whole number of other Football League clubs,” Harris said.

“He’s still under contract with us for next season so obviously if Derby take the option to sign him there will be a fee involved.”

Luke took to social media to celebrate the news, saying on Facebook: “Buzzing isn’t the word, my big bro! No one deserves it more, couldn’t be happier.”
