Dumbleton v Lydney
LYDNEY suffered their first defeat of the season at Dumbleton on Saturday.
Lydney skipper Ed Jones won the toss and asked the home side to bat first.
Corey Notley-Barnard came in to the side for his first XI debut and performed well with the ball.
Carson and Nicholson put on 58 for the first Dumbleton wicket before Paul Morris trapped Carson lbw.
Nicholson went on to top score with 62 before Notley-Barnard had him caught behind by Tony Wicks.
Will Jones was once again the pick of the Lydney bowlers with 3-29 from his 10 overs.
Davey Kear picked up two wickets as Dumbleton's innings closed on 200-9.
Lydney's reply got off to the worst possible start with Will Jones and Jake Bonser both back in the pavilion with only five runs on the board.
Jonny Kear again held things together and at the halfway stage Lydney were 96-4 – ahead of Dumbleton's scoring rate.
However, when Kear became the sixth man out for 57, with the score on 105, the innings completely fell apart. Lydney's last wicket fell on 125, 75 runs short of Dumbleton's total.
