BRETT Scriven has switched codes to try his luck at rugby league.

Scriven – a key figure in Lydney' s promotion charge last season – will play for the University of Gloucestershire All Golds in Kingstone Press League 1.

In his rugby union career, Scriven has played for Gloucester, Bridgend, Worcester, Stourbridge, Berry Hill and Bream, but his best days have been spent in Lydney's second-row.

He has represented Gloucestershire, the South West of England and Wales under-19s.

The move will not be Brett's first involvement in rugby league – some years ago he had a successful trial with Hull, but declined a professional contract.
