ENGLAND Sevens player Jack Preece (pictured) has signed for Cinderford on loan for the rest of the season.

It's a coup for the Foresters to get a player who is currently centrally contracted to the England Sevens team for the 2012/2013 IRB Sevens World Series.

There's currently a lull in the international sevens' programme, which is why the 24-year-old former roofer is coming to Dockham Road.

Cinderford director of rugby Andy Deacon said: "He's not played much rugby lately so he needs to get fit, but he played for our seconds at Richmond on Saturday and is training really hard.

"He can play in the front or back-row but he wants to be recognised with us as a hooker.

"We'll just see how things go."

Preece joined Birmingham & Solihull at 17 and captained them in 2011/12.

He was Birmingham's player of the year two seasons in a row.

An England Counties international, he made his debut for England Sevens in the first leg of the European Sevens Grand Prix Series in June 2012 in Lyon.

Whilst playing for England Sevens in the Moscow leg of the same series, Preece suffered a serious ACL injury which required reconstructive surgery.

Gloucester-born Jack represented Gloucestershire at every level from under-15s to seniors.
