ELLWOOD Football Club will play their opening friendly this Saturday at home to Llanwern (3pm).

The club has not arranged a match for the following Saturday because player/manager Chris Addis is getting married.

Addis said: "I'm looking forward to getting going but it's early days and we're not really sure who will be playing for us this season and who won't.

"Numbers have been good at training and there have been a few new faces, including Danny Mason."

Chris's brothers Jamie, Matt and Julian remain committed to Ellwood, but Byron Ranford is joining his father Nick at Lydbrook Athletic.

On July 28, Ellwood host Welsh outfit Spencer Boys (3pm).

Cheltenham Saracens visit on August 2 (6.45pm), with Croesyceiliog coming to the Forest on August 4 (3pm). The serious stuff begins on August 8 with a Les James League Cup tie away at Patchway (6.30pm). The County League kicks-off on August 11. Chris Addis and Jon Bowdler will miss the start of the league season because of suspensions.
