PARALYMPIAN Piers Gilliver could be named the best in British fencing at an awards ceremony next weekend.
Gilliver, a wheelchair fencer from Drybrook, is one of two finalists in the athlete of the year category at the British Fencing Annual Awards in Nottingham on Saturday July 1.
The young Paralympic silver medallist is up against Richard Kruse for the honour at the event, to be held at the University of Nottingham.
Gilliver said he was ’honoured’ to be a finalist in a post on his Facebook page.
