THREE bowlers each took three wickets as Lydney made it three on the bounce in Division One of the Gloucestershire Cricket League.
Jack O’Connell, Callum Miller and Paul Morris laid into the Poulton attack at the Bob Park Cricket Ground as Lydney set a target of 180.
The home side won the toss and elected to bat with openers Jonathan Kear and Ben Ferguson putting on 55 for the first wicket.
Kear was stumped at the end of the 16th over having made 28, with 20 of his coming from boundaries.
Lydney then lost their next two batsmen for six runs in a double wicket maiden for Billy Breen.
First, Kear’s replacement, Dafydd Nicholas was caught off the first ball of the 19th over and Dave Kear was bowled with the next delivery.
Ross Lindsay parried the third ball to deny Breen the hat trick but Lydney were now 61-3.
Together with Ferguson, they put on 46 for the fourth wicket.
Ferguson hit the 50 mark in the 27th over but became the fourth wicket to fall when he was caught off the first delivery of the 30th.
His innings of 53 included seven fours and made him Lydney’s top-scorer in the match with his side at 107-4.
Jordan Stone hit 20 at a run a ball including two fours before he was caught to take Lydney to 137-5.
O’Connell was caught to make it 147-6 and Lindsay’s 30 was Lydney’s second highest score of the afternoon.
Lindsay went leg before at the start of the 40th over to make it 153-7.
Niall Halford made 10 off 11 balls before he was caught for 172-8.
Captain Callum Miller and Jack Batcock were both caught at 179 to close the innings.
The visitors from Cirencester were quickly in trouble as they lost four wickets for just 19 runs.
Miller opened Lydney’s account, bowling Tom Rutter with the second ball of the fourth over for 7-1.
O’Connell struck in the next over as Ben Ferguson caught Jack Thorn for 7-2.
He then made the ninth a wicket maiden as he caught Adam Clatworthy for 17-3.
Two overs later O’Connell had his third when he bowled Tristan Hanson with the score on 19.
Paul Morris gave an emphatic introduction, taking wickets with two successive balls in his opening over.
James Newman was caught by Dave Kear with the fifth ball of the 19th over and followed by bowling Jake Harris for 58-6.
Morris had his third when O’Connell took a catch for 83-7.
Miller then repeated the feat of taking two wickets with successive deliveries.
Breen hit a six with the fourth ball of the 32nd but Miller responded by bowling him with the next.
He then bowled Max Arnold to make it 99-9.
Jody Lawrence and Harry Kilby saw out the remaining 13 overs.
They added 38 runs to the Poulton total but it still left them 42 runs short.
Lydney remain in seventh, extending the gap with Poulton to 18 points.
