AN UNDEFEATED third wicket stand of 184 between Anthony James and Oliver Henson laid the foundations for victory for Aston Ingham.
James scored 112 in an innings of 112 minutes while Henson hit 74 against Chipping Campden in the West of England Premier League Gloucestershire League.
Aston got off to a slow start with openers Ed Bressington and Gus Carini-Roberts putting on 17 runs in the first 10 overs.
Carini-Roberts was run out trying to make a second midway through the 20th over with 50 on the board.
He had scored 23 including one boundary.
James added three successive in the 23rd but Bressington went in the next, caught for 26 including two fours.
Henson opened with a four at the end of that over and one in the next.
He produced another four at the start of the 28th over and there was a boundary in each of the next three.
Henson hit the first of four maximums in the 43rd over as Aston moved onto 174-2.
He hit another six in the 45th as the pair added 68 runs in the last six of the 50-over game.
James hit his first six with the second ball of the 47th over and repeated it in the next.
Henson opened the 49th over with a six and James closed it with another.
James added another in the final over for Aston to finish on 248-2.
The Aston bowling honours were shared with four bowlers each taking two wickets as the visitors were brought up 69 runs short.
The opening partnership was broken in the sixth over on 32 when Jack Carpenter bowled Sam Groves who had scored 20 off 13 balls.
Mohamed Dilshad opened his account with a wicket maiden when opener Mason Salvage was caught by Henson towards the end of the 11th over to make it 50-2.
Having reached 89-2 Campden then lost four wickets for as many runs.
Bressington caught Jack Groves off Sam Didcote’s final delivery of the 26th over for 90-3.
James bowled Matt Andrews with his opening ball of the following over for 90-4.
Didcote repeated his final ball accuracy in the 28th when he caught Dylan McAteer leg before for 92-5.
James followed with another wicket in the 29th when Craig Baker caught Daniel Salvage.
Dan Smith made up for an expensive 19-run 31st when Carpenter caught Charlie Tamcken off the final ball and 114-7.
The 39th and 40th overs concluded and opened with a wicket as first Smith bowled Josh Colwell and then Josh Tamcken was caught by Baker off the bowling of Tim Dulson for 165-9.
The match was won midway through the 45th when Dilshad bowled Mark Trueman to leave Campden 179 all out.
Aston’s Thirds had an emphatic 143-run win in the derby at Westbury Seconds in Division 8A of the Gloucestershire Cricket League.
Mark Mathias hit 59 and Harry Hollamby an undefeated 55 as Aston set a target of 226.
Pete Woodall took wickets for the home side with one each for Charlotte Dunn, George Nice and Steve Tegg.
In reply, Westbury managed just 82 in 25.2 overs.
Philip Leighton and Simon King both took four wickets with the others coming from Luke Ward and a run out by Isaac Goulding.
