WESTBURY-ON-SEVERN secured a 34-run victory over Cam after Andrew Cueto and Edward Edginton produced decisive performances with bat and ball.

Having won the toss and elected to bat at their home ground on Saturday, Westbury posted 186-9 from their allotted 45 overs.

The hosts lost captain James Down for four with the score on 15 before Fran Stirrup, who made 19, followed at 40-2.

Nathan Havard helped steady the innings with a patient 30 from 80 deliveries, sharing an important partnership with Cueto before being caught and bowled by Christopher Wilcox.

Cueto remained unbeaten on 54 from 104 balls, striking five fours and anchoring the Westbury innings as wickets fell around him.

Tom Burrows provided a rapid burst of 21 from only eight balls, including two fours and two sixes, while Jon Hargreaves finished unbeaten on ten. Cam conceded 35 extras.

Wilcox and Peter Hall each claimed three wickets, while George Dolling took two.

Cam reached 41 without loss in reply, but Edginton then transformed the contest by removing Ryan Malpass for 22, Sam Buck for a duck and Dolling for 13.

Henry Watkinson dismissed George Johnson before Cam captain Alex Ballard mounted a recovery with 42, the highest score of the visitors’ innings.

Gregory Artus ended Ballard’s resistance and also removed Lewis Baker without scoring. Edginton struck twice more to dismiss Ben Lane and Wilcox, completing excellent figures of 5-30 from nine overs.

Havard bowled Chris Browning for 19, while Hall and Joe Pearson added 31 for the final wicket before Artus removed Hall for 13.

Cam were dismissed for 152 in 37.4 overs, with Artus returning 3-26.

The result earned Westbury 19 points, including maximum bowling points, while Cam took seven from the match. It completed a strong all-round display from Westbury in their Division Two campaign.
