THE village hammered the city as Aston Ingham 1st XI walloped Gloucester 1sts by 138 runs at Stockings Field.

The hosts set a 50-over target of 220-9 in Saturday's West of England Premier Gloucestershire match before then skittling the visitors for 82 in 26 overs.

Angus Bartlett top-scored with 44 before being run out, backed by Dharzekanth Yoganadan with 40, Oliver Henson 25, Anthony James 24 and Nic Merrin 19.

The Aston attack then quickly reduced the city side to 21-3, and although they passed the 50-mark without further loss, Gloucester's wheels then fell off.

Sam Didcote took 3-10 off six overs, Mikey Gooch 3-20-7, Bartlett 2-20-6 and Charlie O'Neill 1-6-1.

Aston's 2nds won by an even bigger margin, 235 runs away to Bream 1sts as they raced to 313-6 in 40 overs.

Skipper Jummy Davies fired 82, including two sixes and 14 fours, Josh Loade 79 off just 40 balls, including theee sixes and 13 fours, Tim Dulson 63, with two sixes and nine fours, and Will Green 41 not out, including seven fours.

Bream were then blitzed for 78 all out in 32 overs, only one batsman making double figures with 30.

Frankie Gooding starred with the ball taking 3-8-5, backed by Clyde Breetzke with 2-5-4 and Oliver Kensall 2-12-5.

The 3rds were also big winners, by 106 runs away to Gloucester 3rds. Mark Mathias fired an unbeaten 62, backed by Simon King with 35, Ben Savidge with 34 and skipper Leo Lockwood with 33 as Aston reached 207-5 in their 40 overs.

And four wickets for Oliver Dennis, and braces for Philip Leighton and Mathias then skittled the hosts for 101 in 35 overs.

But the 4ths couldn't make it a Saturday clean sweep, downed by six wickets at home to Newent 3rds.

They scored a reasonable 184-6 off 40 overs, but their derby rivals raced to 186-4 in 28 overs to take the victory.

Newent 1st XI were also squashed by eight wickets away to Quedgeley & Hardwicke, despite setting a 40-over target of 196-8.

Their first seven batsmen all made starts getting into double figures, but none pushed on to make a big score, Dan Nightingale top-scoring with 35, backed by Jack Cowles 29, Mike Mason 28 and skipper Niel Roche 22.

The hosts then raced to 200-2 with 11.3 overs to spare, Tom Devries taking two early wickets, but the third-wicket partnership proving unstoppable with unbeaten scores of 76 and 52.

But Newent’s Lions exacted revenge at home to Quedgeley & Hardwicke’s 3rds, roaring to a 90-run victory, mainly thanks to a magnificent 133 from Luke Merchant and 70 from Paul Carter.

Reaching 248-4 off 40 overs, they then restricted the visitors to 158-7, Josh Hayes and Andrew Brookes taking wicket braces.
