ROSS Howells and Ellis Boughton each took three wickets as Lydney Seconds beat Aston Ingham Seconds by seven wickets in Division 6A of the Gloucestershire Cricket League.

The Herefordshire side elected to bat at the Bob Park Cricket Gound and were dismissed for 141.

Jack Bartlett claimed the first of his two wickets when he bowled Aston Ingham skipper Jimmy Davies on four to make it 14-1.

The visitors then lost two wickets without moving on the scoreboard for 32-3.

First, Will Green was bowled by Boughton for five and 32-2 followed by Isaac Goulding who went for 16 to a catch by Dan Thomas off Goulding.

Johnny Keown-Boyd and Shafiq Khan then put on 21 for the fourth wicket before two went cheaply.

Keown-Boyd was bowled by Boughton for two to put Aston Ingham on 53-4 and then Clyde Breetzke went the same way for 53-5.

Khan and Nathan Davis then added 55 for the sixth.

The partnership was ended by Howells who trapped Khan leg before for a top score of 37 to put Aston at 108-6

Billy Davies was bowled by Howells to make it 108-7.

Nath Jones then bowled Nathan and Jack Davis for 110-9.

Tom Day and Luke Ward then put on 31 for the wicket before Howells bowled Ward for 26 and a target of 142.

In reply, the home side reached the target for the loss of three wickets and with five wickets in hand.

Dafydd Nicholas and George Kear made an opening stand of 70 before Lydney lost three wickets in quick succession.

Nicholas was the first to go, caught by Day off Breetzke for 41 followed by Dan Thomas and Dan Knox, both bowled by Breetzke with the score still on 70.

An undefeated 53 by Kear and 43 from Dave Kear saw Lydney home.
