Cinderford 36
Rosslyn Park 21
CINDERFORD put a severe dent in Rosslyn Park's title ambitions with this deserved five-try bonus point victory at Dockham Road.
Two tries from Tom Bozzard makes him the club's top try scorer this season with 10, an incredible tally for a hooker.
It was a high quality match. Ross Laidlaw kicked the visitors ahead with a third minute penalty, but an unconverted Lloyd Stapleton try got the home side going.
Laidlaw restored Park's lead with his second penalty, but the home side responded with a score from prop Nick Selway, who forced his way under the posts for a try which Mark Davies converted.
A third penalty from Laidlaw was followed by another Cinderford touchdown. This time, it was Kai Done who burst over the whitewash to the delight of the crowd. With Mark Davies slotting the conversion, the hosts led 19-9 inside half-an-hour.
Park contributed plenty to the match and they kept the game alive with a try right on the stroke of half-time.
Ed Lewis-Pratt showed a good turn of foot to cross in the corner with the accurate Laidlaw converting from wide out. Cinderford needed to start the second half strongly and they did.
Man of the match Tom Bozzard scored what is fast becoming a trademark try when he was driven over from a line-out catch-and-drive. Davies converted.
When Bozzard bagged his second try near the posts, again converted by Davies, Cinderford led 33-16.
Lewis-Pratt touched down for his second try to give his side a glimmer of hope, but Cinderford were in no mood to throw their hard won advantage away. Davies booted another penalty to ram home Cinderford's superiority.
Cinderford: Mike Wilcox (Stef Hawley 74), Nev Codlin, Jack Adams, Kai Done, Lloyd Stapleton, Mark Davies, Danny Pointon, James Brooks, Tom Bozzard (Chris Bundy 65), Nick Selway (Tom Heard 56), Ben West, Ed King, Luke Allen (Joe Garner 44), Will Foden (capt, Ben Sparks 74), George Evans.
GLOUCESTER back-row Rob Langley has signed for Cinderford on a dual registration.
The 21-year-old from Exeter can also play in the second-row. Having come through the Hartpury Academy he has featured regularly for Gloucester United this season.
Langley has already been training with the Foresters.
"We welcome Rob to the squad and hope he can gain valuable game time at Cinderford," said director of rugby Andy Deacon.
"He gives us more depth in our forward pack and having players join us from Gloucester Rugby is always a positive boost to our team."
MATSON winger/centre Chris Hawkins has joined Cinderford after training with the club for the first time on Tuesday night.
Hawkins is a former Hartpury Academy first-team player who almost joined Cinderford at the start of the season, but could not commit because of work. Now, he is available to play every weekend.
FORMER captain Adam Nicholls is taking a break from all rugby because of work and personal commitments.
