CERI Large repaid the faith shown in her by the England coaches by scoring her first try for her country's senior team in the 43-3 Six Nations defeat of Italy on Sunday.

Ceri, from Drybrook, was handed her first full England start in the number 10 shirt.

It was certainly a hectic weekend. Because of the frozen conditions the match was moved at short notice from the Centro Sportivo in Parabiago, Milan, to a rubber crumb pitch at the Stadio Carlo Androne in Recco, near Genoa.

"It was a really good weekend and it's easier to settle down into the match when you start," said Ceri.

"We had an extra 2½ hour journey and the rubber crumb pitch made for a faster game. The ball bounces about quite a bit but I've played on them before."

Ceri stripped the ball from one of the Italian wingers before racing over for her debut England try.

She's hoping she's done enough to keep her place for the next Six Nations match versus Wales at Twickenham on February 25 (6.15pm).

Fellow Drybrook girl Natasha Hunt was rested for the match in Italy, but will be hoping to play in the game against Wales, which will be televised live on the BBC red button.
