IN 2007, eight-year-old Callum Walker literally snapped his arm off at the top of the socket in a grasstrack accident.

He was advised not to race again but now, at the ripe old age of 13, he's won the British Junior Grasstrack Championship.

Dad James admits the dangers of the sport sometimes scare him, but he also says he's extremely proud of his son's skill, dedication and drive.

"He doesn't want to do anything else," he said.

"His ambition is to become a professional speedway rider.

"He's been hooked ever since his grandad took him to see a Grand Prix in Cardiff."

Callum, from Whitecroft, has already been riding motorbikes for around eight years.

His sister Lily-Mae, nine, has followed him into the sport.

Next year, Callum – a pupil at Whitecross School – is set to race in the British Speedway Championship, while also stepping up his grasstrack riding by competing in the European and World Championships.

James said: "The plan is to conquer Europe."
