Drybrook picked up a valuable five points away at Nuneaton in a close encounter they eventually won 31-34, writes Chris Tingle.

Drybrook started strongly and were unlucky not to score when wing Cai Rogers went close before the forwards were held up over the line.

After dominating the first 15 minutes, a good break by Ryan Chappell was finished off by Brad Morgan for 0-5.

Nuneaton’s first attack broke through the defnce for a converted try.

Drybrook soon regained the ascendency with a brace of trademark Mitch Baldwin tries with one converted for 7-19.

Nuneaton reduced the deficit with another converted try.

Drybrook suffered a major blow when Mitch Baldwin was forced to leave the field with an ankle injury.

A catch and drive saw Nuneaton rumble over for their third converted try for 21-19 at the break.

Ten minutes in, Rogers slipped through a gap for a try converted by full-back Harry Housley on his debut.

It was Rogers again, who found himself on the end of a sweeping backs move, after the ball had been stolen at the lineout, to increase the lead with another well taken try in the right corner for 21-26

Nuneaton came back on the 30-minute minute mark with a try and conversion after a couple of tap and goes near the visitors line.

It was all to play for in the last 10 minutes with the score at 26-31.

With the clock on 38 minutes, good driving play from the Drybrook pack earned a penalty 10 metres into the Nuneaton half.

Drybrook sensibly opted for the kick and Cai Rogers stepped up to give Drybrook an eight-point advantage.

The home side managed one more try in the last move of the game, but it was not enough and Drybrook earned an impressive victory.
