LEADING scorer Scott Wilson has left Cinderford Town to join Southern League rivals Yate Town.
Wilson – who scored 13 league goals for Cinderford this season – quickly impressed everyone at The Causeway with his pace and work rate after signing in the summer from Gloucester City.
He is reunited with Geraint Bater, who quit Cinderford for Yate before Christmas. On New Year's Day, Wilson scored for Yate in their 3-1 win over Shortwood. His departure leaves Cinderford with just three strikers, Sam O'Sullivan, Lewis Sommers and Lee Smith.
Like most clubs, Cinderford Town's busy Christmas schedule was completely disrupted by rain and waterlogged pitches. It leaves them with a backlog of games to catch up on.
Their trip to Paulton Rovers on December 22 was postponed, while the home Boxing Day clash with Merthyr Town was called off just over an hour before the scheduled kick-off, upsetting the travelling Merthyr fans. The pitch had passed a 10.30am morning inspection by officials. Town's home game with Clevedon on December 29 and the New Year's Day derby at Bishop's Cleeve were also casualties of the weather.
Cinderford now go to Paulton Rovers on Tuesday January 22.
The home game with Merthyr has been rearranged for Tuesday February 5, with Clevedon coming to The Causeway the following week on February 12.
This Saturday, Steve Peters's men are at home to Taunton Town.
