Tynedale 20

CINDERFORD picked up a bonus point victory over Tynedale, but the visitors from the north made things tough for Andy Deacon's side throughout.

Cinderford were without Jack Adams and Ben West, both in Ireland with the England Counties side.

Kai Done and Dale Critchley came into the starting XV.

Tynedale quickly went on the attack and they were rewarded for their enterprise with an unconverted try from captain Hamish Smales, who raced clear on the overlap.

Cinderford hit back with a try from full-back Mike Wilcox, who joined the line at pace to breeze over. Mark Davies converted.

Tynedale took play deep inside the Cinderford half and applied some concerted pressure.

Oulson kicked a penalty to give the visitors an 8-7 lead.

Right on the stroke of half-time Cinderford bagged their second try – with winger Nev Codlin cutting inside to touch down near the posts. Davies added the simple conversion.

The impressive Codlin crossed for his second try early in the second half, after more good work from Wilcox and Scourfield.

Tynedale quickly responded with a second try from Smales, who just squeezed in at the corner.

Some good play by home hooker Tom Bozzard set up Lloyd Stapleton for Cinderford's bonus point try, with Davies adding the conversion.

Bozzard cut inside and neatly off-loaded to the flying winger.

Cinderford introduced England sevens player Jack Preece for his debut shortly after that, with Gloucester man Rob Langley also replacing skipper Will Foden.

The visitors refused to go away and Smales completed a fine hat-trick of tries by sprinting clear from the halfway line. George Cullen converted.

Tynedale's Sam Reynolds was shown a yellow card in the closing stages of the match for killing the ball to give the home side an extra edge when they needed it.

They took advantage by scoring a fifth try, with Preece claiming the rolling maul touchdown, again converted by Davies. Cinderford's man of the match was all-action back-row, Luke Allen.
