ANDY Lewis MBE has confirmed he will be competing in the next two Paralympics before calling his triathlon career a day – so his children can see him compete.

The Lydney ace, who won gold at the Rio Paralympics in 2016, is also keen to hear from anybody who wants to train alongside him.

Lewis has just returned from a World Series triathlon event in Bescanson, France, where he won gold and is off to the Czechia for Challenge Prague this month.

He is keen to continue competing for Great Britain, as he is doing this summer, but is trying to set-up his future after triathlon in business.

So he admits the defence of his gold medal in the Tokyo Paralympics next year is not a huge priority.

But making sure he is ready for 2024 when the Games arrive in Paris, which will be his last big competition, is important for his children’s sake.

He said: “You have to think that the first time I did this (Paralympics gold) was in Rio. Are my kids going to go out there? No. The next one is in Tokyo which is still a bit too far for my kids to come.

“The one in 2024 is in Paris, though, so if I can keep my fitness up – and that will be my last Paralympic Games in 2024, then my kids can see me.”
