FOREST of Dean all-round sportswoman Ali Bannister has come a long way in double quick time as an archer.

Bannister, from Coleford, started shooting her bow in her back garden and is almost entirely self-taught.

Even so, the archer, who also fits in playing hockey for the Lydney club, has enjoyed some superb success in recent months.

It was topped by her victory last weekend where she shot a tournament personal best to take the Berkshire Archery Association tournament and, with it, beat the county champion!
