A BUMPER crowd of over 350 turned out to witness history at Regentsholme last Wednesday as the University of Gloucestershire All Golds brought professional rugby league to the Forest.
Despite going down 28-18 to Hemel Stags in their Championship 1 clash at the home of Lydney RFC, All Golds Chief Executive Rob Webber was delighted with the event.
"We had a great atmosphere and the support was fantastic," he said.
"It was a cracking game of rugby, just a shame about the result!"
The All Golds average around 150-500 in attendance at the Prince of Wales Stadium in Cheltenham and so were delighted to see a total of 367 keen supporters cheering on the evening's home side.
"The feedback we've had, both from staff at Lydney RFC and supporters has been fantastic," Rob added.
The game could also pave the way for future fixtures to be held at Regentsholme, as the All Golds look to gain authorisation from the RFL to play at least one more game at Lydney before the season's end.
