FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD Bethany Wilson says being coached by Tim Henman was 'an amazing experience that she will never forget'.

Bethany, from Lydney, was invited to a special performance clinic with the former British number one Tim Henman and Dan Boxham, who is the current head coach of the All England Club.

She earned the invite after qualifying for the finals of the Road To Wimbledon national tournament for the second year running.

Up against some of the best young players in the land, she made it through to the last 32.

She lost her first group match against Dorset's Selina Briggs, but fought hard to beat Wales's Rachel Yates in a deciding tie-break. Another tie-break victory came against Katie Merrick of Cheshire.

In the last 32, Bethany lost 6-2, 6-1 to powerful server Elizabeth Pam from Peterborough.

The Lydney Tennis Club player said: "It's great playing against better players.

"Listening to Tim Henman before, during and after matches helped a lot.

"It's unbelievable that I can go to Wimbledon and watch the professionals playing on courts I've played on."

Dad Mike said: "It's a proud moment to see your daughter playing with the best nationally.

"Beth has come on so much in the last year and her confidence is growing."
