A WOMAN burglar who pounced on pensioner Ted Lambert in his own home and hit him over the head with a hammer, has been jailed for nine years.

Nicola Wade, 28, knew 78-year-old Mr Lambert and had previously visited his home offering him sex for money, Gloucester crown court was told.

She even stripped naked on one occasion and got into his bed with him, the jury heard.

Then on July 11 last year she broke into his home in Coleford and hid upstairs until an unknown male accomplice knocked the door.

When Mr Lambert, a retired plumber and former Royal Navy sailor, opened the door, he came face to face with a man pretending that he was interested in buying a puppy – but as he spoke to Mr Lambert, Wade ran downstairs and jumped on the pensioner’s back, hitting him with a plastic hammer.

Wade, of Oakfields, Coleford, then ran back into his house, snatched his wallet, containing about £700, from the mantelpiece and ran off with her accomplice.

She pleaded not guilty to aggravated burglary, but after a three-day trial she was unanimously convicted by a jury of nine men and three women.

Recorder Shamin Qureshi sentenced her to nine years imprisonment.
