DETECTIVES are investigating a suspected attempted murder near the harbour in Lydney.
Three people were arrested after a 33-year-old Lydney man was struck by a car in Harbour Road.
It was alleged that the car was driven at him deliberately.
The trio have now been bailed pending further inquiries.
Detectives are now appealing for a Land Rover-driving Good Samaritan, who stopped after the incident, to come forward.
The Land Rover driver helped to pull out a trapped black Toyota Celica from bushes.
The Toyota is believed to have come off the road during the incident which happened at around 3pm on Sunday, September 25.
The Lydney man who was struck was taken by ambulance to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where he was treated for minor leg and head injuries before being discharged.
On the afternoon of the incident a 23-year-old man and 19-year-old woman, both from Coleford, and a 22-year-old man from Gwent were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
They were questioned at Gloucester police station before being bailed until November 23.
Originally police were linking the alleged attempted murder to an incident in the Lydney railway station car park which happened less than an hour earlier.
But a 19-year-old woman from Coleford, who needed hospital treatment for a cut to her hand, has not made a complaint and the investigation has been dropped.
A 30-year-old man from Cheltenham who was originally arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm in connection with the railway station incident, has now been arrested on suspicion of possessing class B drugs, suspected to be ketamine and cannabis.
A police spokesman said: "We are looking for the driver of a Land Rover who helped rescue the vehicle.
"We believe a passer-by stopped because the Toyota Celica had come off the road and they helped get it back on again. We appeal for that person to come forward."
