Planning applications in the Forest

Forest of Dean District Council has received several planning applications affecting sensitive sites.

At Whiteleas, Dursley Cross, Longhope (Ref: P1370/25/FUL), a variation is proposed to replace concrete roof tiles with natural slate and add PV panels, impacting a public right of way.

At Engine Meadow Lodge, Dymock (Ref: P1348/25/FUL), plans seek to retain the existing dwelling and garage with changes to roof shape, materials, and redesigned first-floor gable windows. The development may not align with the current local plan and affects the setting of a listed building.

Finally, Meadoway, High Street, Blakeney (Ref: P1399/25/LBC) involves internal alterations to a listed building, creating an open-plan kitchen/dining area and a new en-suite.

Applications can be viewed at the Council Offices, Coleford, or online at www.fdean.gov.uk. Written representations must be submitted by 17 December 2025.

Multiple road closures across the Forest of Dean

Gloucestershire County Council has confirmed a series of temporary road closures in the Forest of Dean during December to allow essential works to proceed safely.

Ellwood Road (Coleford) will close from December 1-5 for water works linked to a new site. The closure affects a 25-metre stretch approximately 100 metres from the property known as Newlyn.

On December 1 , Blaisdon Road (Westbury-on-Severn) will shut for signage works between The Cottage and Whiteacres, covering 200 metres.

Further disruption is planned on December 4, when the C46 road from Hayden Farm to Strand Lane will close for drainage works between 08:00 and 17:00. This section spans 150 metres near Cleeve Bungalow.

Later in the month, Bailey Lane (Hewelsfield & Brockweir) will be closed from December 15 to 19, between 9:30am and 3:30pm, for underground and overhead cabling works. The closure extends for 1,170 metres westwards from Hudnals Cottage.

On December 13, the B4228 Coleford Road (Tidenham) will close for water connection works between 8am and 6pm, affecting 125 metres from its junction with Boughspring Lane.

Finally, the C46 road near Pink Cottage will shut from December 15-16 for Severn Trent maintenance, covering 250 metres.

Signed diversions will be in place for all closures, and pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained. For details, visit www.gloucestershire.gov.uk or call 08000 514 514.
