A wide range of planning applications have been submitted across the Forest of Dean district, with several proposals raising issues relating to conservation areas, listed buildings, public rights of way and development policy.
In Hartpury, an application for the erection of a self‑build dwelling on land adjacent to The Old Canning, Gloucester Road (P0409/26/FUL) has been flagged as affecting the setting of a listed building and not appearing to accord with the current development plan. Another proposal in the area seeks outline permission for a self‑build home on land west of Pears Cottage, Corsend Road, with access arrangements submitted but other matters reserved.
Also in Hartpury, an application at Woodbine Cottage, Gloucester Road seeks permission to vary approved plans linked to an earlier consent, allowing alterations to the dwelling’s design.
A major development at Camp Farm, Drury Lane, Redmarley proposes a change of use from agricultural to mixed agricultural and equestrian use. The application affects a public right of way, prompting closer scrutiny.
Several proposals involve works within conservation areas. In Redmarley, an application at Martindale, The Green seeks permission to replace existing windows and a door. Meanwhile, Newnham is the subject of proposals at The New House, High Street for the replacement of window sashes with heritage-style double glazing, affecting the setting of a listed building.
Works to listed buildings feature prominently. At Rock Farm, Rock Lane, Westbury‑on‑Severn , consent is sought to replace windows and install French doors. In Blakeney, applications at Yew Tree House, Church Square include proposals to install 24 solar panels, requiring both full planning permission and listed building consent.
Another application affecting a public right of way relates to the installation of a swimming pool and enclosure at Belfield House, Brockweir .
All applications can be viewed online via the council’s website or at the Council Offices in Coleford. Members of the public have until May 13 to submit written representations, which will be available for public inspection.
