A ROAD closure has cut off trade for a pub in Shortstanding so much that they've gone from serving 40 meals a night to just four.

The Stowfield road between Lower Lydbrook and English Bicknor has been closed due to the road subsiding.

The New Inn at Shortstanding, in particular, has suffered greatly due to the closed road. The pub's owner, Jenna Hughes, believes the position of the road closure signs is deterring traffic away unnecessarily.

Jenna Hughes, landlady at the New Inn at Shortstanding, said: "It's been absolutely dreadful since they closed the road. And it has been closed now for four or five weeks.
