The Lower Wye Ramblers’ next walk takes place on Sunday, November 30 and will be a stunning nine-mile strenuous hike up the Dragons Back to Waun Fach, the highest point in the Black Mountains.

Starting at 9.30 from the small car park near to Dinas Castle Inn on the A479 (small parking charge; Grid reference: SO 17372 29686; Nearest postcode: LD3 0EP; what3words: shrub.decorated.awestruck),the walk heads up Dinas Castle mound before taking the steep ascent up to the plateau, where after a short distance walkers will reach Waun Fach with its spectacular views. The descent is pleasant but steep in places.
