KW Bell League

HERE were some one-sided games in the league this week, resulting in big wins for Lydney III, Parkend and leaders Yorkley.

Huntley II won the toss and elected to bat against Lydney III.

After 10 overs honours were even with Huntley on 40-2.

McGuinness (25) and Ridler (65) set about the inexperienced Lydney bowling until the former was caught by John Matthews off the bowling of Oli Morgan – giving Oli his first senior wicket for Lydney.

He struck again shortly after, this time Callum Miller taking a good catch to remove Hall.

Ridler continued to be severe on the short ball and he received good support from Watson (21) and Webb to get his side to a total of 160 all out.

James Hawkins, the regular under-15s wicket-keeper was pressed into action as a bowler. He removed Ridler, thanks to a well judged catch by Simon Miller off a leading edge, then cleaned up the tail for figures of 3-2.

Lydney's other wicket takers were Callum Miller (1-25), Andrew Davis (3-21) and Jacob Scott (1-13).

Lydney's innings started cautiously, but gradually gathered momentum. Callum Miller was lbw for six, but John Matthews (71 not out) and Ian Wilkins (53 not out) saw Lydney home with an unbeaten stand of 140.

Yorkley bowled out Eldersfield for 126 with Ben Homer returning superb figures of 4-1 and Liam Hurcombe 3-15. Doc Livingstone made 39 and Ollie Hunt 32.

Homer (50 not out) and Hurcombe (55 not out) sealed an emphatic 10 wicket victory.

Newent III started disastrously against Parkend, losing two wickets in the first Dan James over.

Richard Perks made 32 and Oliver Warren 22, but they were dismissed for 103. Jack Morris (4-13), Dave Morris (2-9) and Dan James (2-12) led the Parkend attack.

Parkend knocked off the runs in 20.3 overs without losing a wicket. Dan James scored 46 not out and Jack Morris an unbeaten 52.
