A MASSIVE inflatable attraction which has wowed millions across the globe will be coming to the Forest next month.

Taurus crafts is bringing a giant Luminarium to Lydney – one of only four in the world.

The huge inflatable works of arts have appeared in venues ranging from the Guggenheim in Spain to the Sydney Opera House in Australia.

Next month one of them, Levity III, will be spending 10 days on a field next to Taurus Crafts.

Visitors are expected to flock from as far away as Birmingham, Bath and Cardiff to explore the 1,000sqm plastic domed structure.

The Luminarium is the brainchild of artist Alan Parkinson and made by Nottingham-based Architects of Air. Between them, the four structures have toured 37 countries and tempted millions of people to take off their shoes to explore the colourful caverns and corridors.

Levity III, the one coming to the Forest, was created in 2007 and has been described as akin to walking through a stained glass window.

Mr Parkinson said: "We often tour through big cities and big events. When we were approached by Taurus Crafts we saw the opportunity to bring one of our luminaria to a rural location where the drama of my modern structures can be seen alongside the natural drama of the Forest of Dean and the River Severn.

"We have had a structure as part of a big festival at the Sydney Opera House, so from Sydney to Lydney gives us an opportunity to work with a community of a different scale."

Elizabeth Ball is delighted that such a large attraction will be coming to Taurus Crafts.

"To see Levity III flowing through the field by Taurus Crafts will be exciting," she said. "We are very lucky to be able to show a Luminarium here this summer."
