FOREST High School enjoyed an enormously successful day, as students discovered their GCSE results.
The number of its students achieving Grades 9-7 in Science nearly tripled compared to last year, while Maths 9-7 results have almost doubled. Overall, the number of Grade 7s and above awarded in English, Maths and Science has quintupled compared to 2025.
Nicola Mooney, Headteacher at Forest High School, said: “We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and their achievements. These results reflect their hard work, resilience, and determination, alongside the dedication of our staff and the support of families. The significant improvements in higher grades demonstrate our commitment to raising aspirations and ensuring every student can succeed.”
Evelyn, winner of the school's Maria Simpson Award earlier this year, achieved three Grade 9s and a Grade 8, along with grades 9-8 in Science, and is now planning to study A-levels at Dene Magna Sixth Form.
Evelyn said: “I have really enjoyed my time at Forest High as I like learning and appreciated the wide variety of opportunities that the school provided over the last five years. I am particularly pleased with the Geography (Grade 9) as this is one of the subjects I am doing next year.”
Zoe achieved a Grade 9 in Art along with high grades in Science and Maths and is also off to Dene Magna Sixth Form. She was pleased that the hard work has paid off and is excited for the journey ahead.
Zoe said: “I would like to thank the teachers for all of their support over the years.”
Annabelle achieved a raft of excellent GCSEs with all of her results at Grade 7 and above. She said she was very pleased with the results and is planning to do A-levels at Dene Magna Sixth Form.
Another student heading to Dene Magna is Josh, who was ecstatic with his results, particularly the Grade 8 in English Language. He now hopes to change his original pick of A-levels to include English.
Katy achieved two 9-8 grades in Science along with a Grade 8 in Art and is off to do A-levels in Product Design, History and either Art or Physics at John Kyrle.
Emily will be joining Katy at John Kyrle having got a range of very high grades including an 8- 8 for Science.
The school said it is particularly proud of the progress made by students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The percentage of SEND students achieving Grade 9-4 in Maths has nearly doubled from last year, reflecting the school's inclusive approach and targeted support strategies.
Vocational subjects have also continued to thrive. Sport Studies students achieved exceptional results, with 62.5 per cent achieving a Level 2 Distinction (equivalent to a Grade 7) and 100% achieving their Level 2 pass (Grade 4 equivalent), maintaining a strong track record in this area.
The school said it continues to focus on providing a supportive, ambitious learning environment where all students can thrive and achieve their potential. As it celebrates the Class of 2026, the school said it remains firmly committed to its upward trajectory, building on these successes and staying true to its motto - be the best they can be.
