DRUG fuelled ‘ravers’ in the woods near Beechenhurst gave residents as far away as Cinderford a sleepless night on Saturday.

Furious residents say the music from the illegal ‘rave’ kept them awake until well after daylight on Sunday.

Complaints have been pouring in of drunk and drugged up ravers driving dangerously on Forest tracks.

And dog sled enthusiasts say they had to abandon a Sunday morning training session because of the numbers of syringes and other drug paraphernalia and litter left lying about.

Councillor Max Coborn said: “I could hear it from where I live in Ruspidge. I have also had quite a few complaints from other residents in the area.

“I would just like to know why the police, the District Council and the Forestry Commission don’t work together to address this kind of problem.”

One resident in Cinderford said: “It went on all night and well into Sunday. The noise was terrible. No one in authority seems to want to know or be prepared to take any sort of action.”

However one of the rave organisers defended the event on Facebook and stated: “The site was cleaned up before departure just to let everyone know, all crews got involved.

“Those deciding to drive about unsafely should be dealt with personally rather than creating a rumour that we all attended and acted in the same way."

A Gloucestershire Constabulary spokesman said: “We had one call at about 2.45am on Sunday. Police attended but although they they could hear music, could not identify the site and no arrests were made.”

A spokesperson from the Forest of Dean District Council said: “The council is able to investigate noise complaints that are an ongoing problem and where the disturbance is severe; will take formal action.

“The council are usually unable to respond to one off problems and therefore cannot comment on this specific issue.”
