FORMER Westbury-on-Severn winger Alex Cuthbert (pictured) helped Wales win the Plate competition in the latest round of the HSBC World Sevens Series in Australia.
Cuthbert scored the first try as Wales beat Argentina 14-7 in the final at the Adelaide Oval.
Cuthbert was one of the stars of the weekend, scoring five tries in total and playing every minute of every game.
In the Plate semi-finals, Wales beat Fiji for just the fifth time in World Series history.
They led 12-0, but looked on the way out as Fiji scored four tries.
It was Cuthbert, however, who stole the show – scoring with seconds remaining, before showing incredible composure to get another decisive try in the corner.
Wales were knocked out of the main draw 17-12 by England, but pushed them all the way.
England led 14-7 at the break with Cuthbert scoring Wales's try in the first half.
Groves stunned England with a try in the early stages of the second half to bring Wales to within two points.
England veteran Ben Gollins knocked over a penalty to edge his side home.
