A LOCAL project that supports families, promotes sustainability and brings the Forest of Dean community together has been given a vital boost thanks to the generosity of residents.
The Lydney Exchange, a volunteer-led initiative, has successfully raised enough money to purchase a secure storage container, allowing it to continue operating for another year.
The funds were raised entirely through community donations, demonstrating just how valued the project has become to people across the area.
Run solely by local volunteers, the Exchange hosts events throughout the year where residents can pick up pre-loved clothes, books, toys and household items free of charge.
The addition of the storage container is key to the future of the Exchange, enabling volunteers to safely store donated items between events.
Volunteers say the Exchange is more than just a practical resource. It is a place where people connect, share stories and support one another.
With the future now secured, the next Lydney Exchange event will take place on Saturday, June 28, from 1pm to 3pm at Taurus Crafts.
Locals are encouraged to drop in, browse the items on offer and see if they can give a few things a new lease of life. Whether it is clothes your children have outgrown, books you have already read or household items you no longer need, there is always someone who could make use of them.
The event is open to all and everything is free, making it an ideal way to help those feeling the financial pinch while also cutting down on waste.
Residents can follow The Lydney Exchange on social media for updates on future events, how to get involved and ways to donate.
The Lydney Exchange stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when a community comes together.
