CINDERFORD Town have launched a major campaign to raise funds for a new all weather pitch at the Causeway Community Arena.

The club says the project will transform grassroots sport in the town by providing a modern playing surface that can be used year round by players of all ages and abilities.

The facility will be made available to local schools, youth teams, walking football groups and community organisations, in addition to the club’s own senior and junior sides.

To mark the start of the campaign, players and coaches from Cinderford Town AFC, Cinderford Town Youth and Cinderford Town Ladies came together for a community event at the Causeway recently.

The day included training sessions and small sided games, with supporters and families in attendance.

Drone footage captured the scale of the event and the shared sense of purpose behind the initiative.

Brian Burke, head of youth development, said: “Our new all weather pitch will be a game changer for Cinderford. It is about building stronger community ties, promoting healthy lifestyles and giving everyone a place to play, whatever the time of year,”

Burke added: “The Causeway has always been a focal point for football in the town. With this new surface, it can become a year round hub for sport and activity for the entire community.”

The club says demand for quality sports facilities in the Forest of Dean continues to grow, with natural grass pitches increasingly affected by poor weather and overuse. The new artificial surface would allow for more consistent access to training and matches throughout the year.

Residents, local businesses and community groups are being invited to support the project through donations, sponsorship or volunteering.
