A FOREST of Dean choir is inviting new singers to experience the uplifting power of music and hoping for a packed audience at its summer concert in Coleford later this month.
The Two Rivers Community Choir, based at Worrall Hill, has become a hub for music lovers of all abilities, welcoming everyone from complete beginners to confident vocalists. The group meets every Monday evening at the Worrall Hill Sports and Social Club from 7:30PM to around 9:00PM, and members say it is more than just a choir.
Singing in a choir has been shown to offer a host of health benefits, from reducing stress and anxiety to boosting endorphins and building social connections. For many members, Monday nights have become the highlight of the week.
One member said: “Most of us can’t read music, and that’s never been a problem. What matters is showing up and enjoying yourself. There’s something incredibly special about singing with others, it lifts your mood and brings people together in a way few things can.”
The choir’s repertoire is varied and inclusive, spanning everything from classical numbers to modern favourites. Rehearsals are relaxed and informal, and the group prides itself on being completely audition free.
To celebrate a season of singing, the choir will hold a public concert on Saturday, June 28 at Coleford Baptist Church, running from 7:30PM to 9:00PM. The evening will also feature guest performances from students at Five Acres High School.
New members are warmly encouraged to join, with a free trial session available for those interested in finding out more. For further information or to arrange a visit, please contact the choir via email at [email protected].
Alternatively, prospective singers are welcome to attend any Monday evening rehearsal at Worrall Hill Sports and Social Club.
