FOREST of Dean police seized two bikes after the riders were observed riding anti-socially.

On Thursday, October 22, officers seized a motorcycle in Coleford after a patrol found the rider operating it anti-socially, riding without a licence plate and driving at an excessive speed.

On the same day, police in Cinderford seized a Sur-Ron e-bike during a patrol, after witnessing the bike being ridden through the town.

The patrols came following the conclusion of a joint operation with Immigration Enforcement and Trading Standards, where officers from both teams conducted checks at a number of Forest of Dean businesses.

The team visited Cinderford, Newent, Coleford and Lydney, and reported that no offences were identified. However, some goods were seized and removed from sale.

Police were pleased with the positive feedback and engagement between themselves, business owners and members of the local community.

A Forest of Dean Neighbourhood Policing Team spokesperson said: “These results demonstrate the ongoing commitment of your local Neighbourhood Policing Team to tackling anti-social behaviour, engaging with our communities and working with partner agencies to keep the Forest of Dean a safe place to live, work and visit.

“Thank you to everyone who stopped to speak with officers today.”

Trading Standards have visited businesses in the Forest of Dean area already this year. In April, officers visited 61 stores across Gloucestershire.

The visits came as part of a project focused on smaller local convenience stores and checking compliance of rules set under the Price Marking Order 2004.

Of the 61 stores, Cinderford had six visits with all six passing, Coleford had one visit which passed, Lydney had three visits with two fails and one pass, and Newent had three visits with two passes and one fail.
