HOSPITALS in Gloucestershire have introduced a new patient messaging service, allowing people to communicate even when you can’t be there in person.
The system allows friends, family and colleagues to email or text the patient experience team with your chosen message, which is then checked, printed and delivered to the patient by hand.
It could be a birthday or anniversary message or simply a few words to let someone know they’re in your thoughts.
Katherine Holland, Head of Patient Experience said: “Being in hospital can be difficult at any time, but it can feel particularly lonely when you’re missing a birthday, a family celebration or a religious festival.
"Receiving a message from someone who’s thinking of you can be a real boost. It’s a simple way for people to show they care, even when they can’t be there in person.”
The service is available throughout the year and is simple to use.
You can email [email protected] or text 07581079456 with your chosen message. You must include the name of the patient, the inpatient area or ward, and then your message including the occasion if it’s relevant.
