LYDNEY have to sort out their problems 'quicker than the Government tackled the debt crisis' if they are to survive in National League Two.
That's the honest assessment of forwards coach Don Parsons, who admitted it was a painful experience watching Saturday's home defeat to bottom club Westcombe Park.
The loss leaves the Severnsiders just outside the relegation zone after a terrible run of results.
Parsons said: "I would hate to be involved with a team that just gives up.
"I don't want to let this badge slip out of the league, it's too important.
"Playing for a club like Lydney should mean something but I'm not sure how much it does to some. We need more local passion, we have got to want it.
"I feel sorry for the supporters who came out and got behind us on Saturday because we weren't good enough."
Lydney failed to win enough quick ball and lacked penetration.
They performed well in the set pieces and had 80 per cent of the play in the second half, but were again heavily penalised by the referee.
Parsons said: "I wanted to speak to the ref, who was being assessed, but his assessment obviously didn't go well because he was kept in until 6.45pm.
"We cannot blame the ref for losing.
"Westcombe Park were lumpy and awkward but they weren't a particularly good side."
