RUNNERS across the Forest of Dean and beyond are being invited to lace up their trainers as the Dymock Half Marathon and Dymock 5 Mile Race both return this spring.
The popular events will take place on Sunday, May 24, with Dymock Cricket Club once again acting as race headquarters, promising a busy and energetic morning in the village.
Organised by FitRun, the races have built a strong reputation in recent years for their friendly atmosphere, well-managed courses and scenic routes through the surrounding countryside.
Both events are fully licensed by UK Athletics, with clearly marked routes, marshals throughout and several water stations along the way.
The half marathon will start at 9.00am, with entry capped at 200 runners and a minimum age of 18. Earlybird entry is priced at £27.50, rising to £29.50, with an additional £2 for unaffiliated runners.
The 5 mile race, also limited to 200 entries, is open to runners aged 16 and over, with Earlybird places available from £16, increasing to £18.
All finishers will receive a medal, while half marathon runners will also earn a coveted event T-shirt.
A wide range of prizes is on offer, including awards for the top three male and female finishers, team prizes, age group categories and special local prizes for runners living in Newent and Ledbury postcodes.
Parking will be available in the field behind the cricket club, with additional space opposite the Beauchamp Arms, and disabled parking provided on site.
Post-race refreshments, both hot and cold, will be available from the club bar, giving runners and supporters a chance to relax and celebrate.
Entries are now open via Entry Central, and organisers are encouraging runners of all abilities to sign up and make the event their next fitness goal.
