LYDNEY'S pack was put under pressure in the set pieces in their opening trial of the season. They lost away at Luctonians by 28-12.

Lydney' s Jim McMahon made himself a nuisance and skipper Matt Taylor was industrious on the floor, but converted tries from Rumsey and Byron gave the home side a 14-0 lead. Both sides made numerous changes to give all of their squad players a workout.

Lydney managed two tries through ex-Moseley man Charlie Daniel and Bath Academy hooker Jake Fields, with Will Beer slotting a conversion.
