KIERAN Thomas has become the first ever Cinderford Town player to sign a two-year semi-pro deal with the club.
Town boss Steve Peters has made no secret of how highly he rates the 18-year-old from Soudley.
Long-term, Peters thinks Thomas has what it takes to go much further in the game, but for now he wants to help him develop at Cinderford.
He said: "In my opinion he's already close to being the best right-back in the league. He looks every inch a pro right-back, he's tough, strong and quick, but he still needs six months to a year in men's football. The good thing is he's loving it here with us."
Thomas was part of Cheltenham Town's Academy from the age of 12 and many expected him to get a pro deal with the Robins.
He was offered a scholarship deal at 14, became a regular in the reserves and even got his own squad number.
