Cinderford staged a remarkable recovery after trailing 29-10 early in the second half to claim a thrilling victory over Old Redcliffians at Scotland Lane in National League Two West.
The home team were quickly into their stride and Jon Cook scored a brace of tries, both of which were converted by Ash Groves, who also landed a penalty.
Cinderford responded with unconverted tries from Harry Tovey and Nathan Taylor to make it 17-10 at the interval.
Reds made a flying start after the break, with Ollie Stratton and Harrison Murphy scoring tries in the first couple of minutes, along with a conversion from Groves to put them seemingly out of sight.
However, the visitors were awarded a penalty try, before Oliver Johnson scored with Luke McMahon converting to put the Forest team right back in contention at 29-24.
Cinderford took the lead for the first time in the match when McMahon converted a try from replacement Jonny Holliday and he landed a drop goal right on the final whistle to complete his team’s tremendous turnaround for a final score of 29-34 which makes it two wins from two for the Forest side.
The United overcame a final quarter resurgence from a spirited Bream side to beat their Forest rivals 41-29 in a highly entertaining Counties Two league match, under the lights. There were two tries for Lous Jayne and one each for Tom Reynolds, James Kear, Sam Baker, Louis Vale and Henry Watts, with Sean Gardner kicking two conversions and Watts one.
