Lydney v Yeovil and Sherborne

Lydney first team had an unexpected trip away to play Yeovil and Sherborne on Saturday as the Lydney pitch resembled a swimming pool so they kindly reversed the fixture.

A sprightly start to the game saw Lydney go close twice only to see their shots saved by the Yeovil and Sherborne goalkeeper.

The opposition was let back into the game as the half went on and they scored the first goal of the game with their only real attack of that half. The goal fired Lydney up and Amy Biddle’s reverse stick strike made it 1-1 at the break.

Lydney got the first goal of the second half to make it 2-1 with Jo Lewis scoring her first goal of the season to finish off a brilliant passing move.

Not long after, Lydney won a short corner and with some Biddle sister magic, Amy Biddle got her second goal of the game making it 3-1.

Yeovil and Sherborne did get one back in the last seconds of the game, however, there wasn’t enough time left for it to impact the overall result with the game finishing 3-2.

A great away win for the girls and we would like to thank our sponsors Morgan Engineering for our playing kit and to Jacob Biddle Training for our lovely new warm up tops. Next week the team travel to Taunton for a big game (1.30pm at Taunton Vale Sports Club).
